What is the structure of a bearing?
Bearings reduce friction through rolling motion.
The components of a bearing include:
● Raceway rings...ring-shaped parts
● Rolling elements...parts that roll between the raceway rings (rolling elements include "balls" and "rollers")
● Cage...parts that prevent the rolling elements from contacting each other and maintain a certain distance between them.
The housing refers to the part that contacts the outer ring of the bearing during assembly.
The raceway ring assembled to the shaft side is called the shaft ring.
The raceway ring assembled to the housing side is called the housing ring.
Various types of cages are available depending on the bearing's operating conditions, such as the magnitude of the supporting force and the rotational speed.
The raceway rings, rolling elements, and cage each play a different role. These roles work together for the bearing to rotate smoothly.
However, even with these components alone, a bearing cannot rotate "stablely" and continuously smoothly.
